Why roofing, siding, and gutters together
Those three trades overlap constantly on a house in this climate. A roof leak that has gone unnoticed for a winter or two is rarely just a roofing problem by the time we get the call. It is rotted fascia behind a gutter that overflowed all winter, siding trim that has soaked up water at a skipped flashing detail, and a gutter that never drained properly in the first place.
A crew that only handles shingles patches the top and leaves the rest. We handle the whole assembly, from the roof deck down through the fascia and the siding it meets, because splitting that work across separate contractors is how details get missed and homeowners get passed between callbacks.
How a job actually runs
The first visit is an inspection, not a sales call. We get on the roof if conditions allow it and into the attic every time, since the underside of the deck and the attic floor tell us more than a walk around the yard ever could. Dark staining around nail heads, frost on the sheathing in winter, and blocked soffit vents all show up from inside, not from the driveway.
After that you get a written scope. Where a repair option and a replacement option both exist, they are described separately with what each one covers. You choose with both options in front of you, and the crew that scoped the job is the crew that shows up to do it.
The houses we work on
Minot and the towns along the Souris River have a mix of housing stock: older homes with shallow attics and wood-frame construction from decades back, and newer builds from the eighties onward with different framing and different failure points. Each needs a different read. An older Minot house often needs the attic addressed before the roof. A newer Surrey build more often needs a skipped flashing detail corrected. Knowing which is which is most of the job before a single shingle gets touched.
What we will not do
We will not shingle over a failing deck we have not inspected. We will not tell you a roof needs full replacement when a repair will genuinely hold. We will not patch a gutter with the wrong pitch and call it fixed. That list occasionally costs us a job, but it also means the work we do stand behind holds up through the next hard winter.
Where we work
Minot is our base, and Burlington, Surrey, Velva, and Kenmare are all close enough that we are out there regularly. We also take on work further along the Souris River corridor and out toward Garrison when the schedule allows, since a lot of the same weather and housing patterns hold true across that stretch of North Dakota.
